The Arboretum in Kórnik adjoins the Działyński castle directly and covers about 30 hectares. It gathers close to three thousand species and varieties of woody plants from Poland and other climate zones — one of the oldest and richest collections of its kind in the country.
The garden's beginnings are linked to Count Tytus Działyński, who expanded the grounds by the castle in the spirit of a landscape park and began importing foreign tree species. Some specimens date back to that period. Today the arboretum belongs to the Institute of Dendrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and combines scientific work with year-round access for visitors.
Educational paths with descriptions of the collections lead across the grounds; there is also a picnic meadow, a playground, benches and tables. The garden is worth visiting in every season: magnolias and rhododendrons bloom in spring, maples turn colour in autumn. Recurring events such as „Zwiastuny wiosny” (Heralds of Spring) and „Barwy jesieni” (Colours of Autumn) are held here.
