Ul. Tadeusza Kościuszki, Katowice
Tadeusz Kościuszko Park stretches south of the centre of Katowice and is the city's largest park. Its proximity to downtown makes it an everyday walking ground for residents, and it is easy to reach when passing through the conurbation.
The layout follows the English landscape style: a rose avenue, pergolas, rhododendrons and azaleas mix with native and exotic trees. Its greatest curiosities are the wooden church of St Michael the Archangel, moved here before the war, and a steel parachute tower — the only surviving structure of its kind in Poland.
In winter a slope with a toboggan and ski run operates here; in summer the park serves mainly for walking and running. A short visit takes half an hour, walking the whole grounds considerably longer.
