A garden in a former palace park

The botanical garden in Brynek occupies part of an extensive forty-hectare park surrounding a palace, a dozen or so kilometres north of Tarnowskie Góry. The estate once belonged to the Henckel von Donnersmarck family; today it is in the hands of the local forestry school.

Plant collections

Around 3,500 species and varieties of herbaceous plants are gathered here. Visitors can see a rosarium, a section of ornamental plants, an alpine garden and a recreated peat bog. The collections combine native species with specimens that do not occur naturally in Poland, framed by the mature trees of the park.

Good to know

The garden is tended by students of the school as part of their practical classes, supervised by teachers, which gives a visit a clear educational dimension. Admission is free and the network of park alleys allows for a relaxed hour-long walk.
