Park Skałka is the main recreational area of Świętochłowice, laid out around the pond of the same name. Greenery and water contrast with the dense development of the Upper Silesian conurbation, and a network of paths rings the water, so walking the whole grounds takes a few dozen minutes.
The heart of the park is the pond with an eco-bathing area and a rental point for water equipment. Around it lie beach volleyball, basketball and football pitches, a skatepark, a climbing wall, a rope park and a fitness zone. A curiosity is the speedway-bike track, rarely found in Polish city parks.
The park is geared towards families: a playground, table tennis tables and wide, paved paths passable with a pushchair. In summer the grounds host picnics and concerts, in winter an ice rink with equipment rental operates. Entry to the park is free; charges apply only to selected attractions.
