Piszczele Park occupies the longest of the loess ravines of Sandomierz, linking the old town with the newer districts. Steep, green-covered slopes form a natural hollow in which paths and recreational facilities have been laid out. The name comes from a local legend about the shin bones of Tatars found in a landslide on one of the scarps.
The park serves as the town's recreation hub: there is a basketball court, a skatepark with obstacles, a chess avenue and a playground with a rope trail for children. In winter a short ski lift operates on the slope of the ravine. Spots for a campfire and a barbecue have also been arranged and can be booked in advance.
It makes a convenient stop while sightseeing in Sandomierz — the Market Square is a quarter of an hour away on foot, and the paths are easy to manage with a pushchair. Food outlets operate within the grounds. The meeting square, used for picnics, commemorates events from the time of the Swedish Deluge.
