The Bison Breeding and Forest Education Centre operates in Jankowice within the Kobiór Forest District, a short drive from Pszczyna, Tychy and Bielsko-Biała. It was set up in 1996 to protect the species and holds the status of a partial reserve. Most of its area remains closed to visitors so that the herd can live away from human contact.
Only the show enclosure is open, reopened after a thorough modernisation in 2020. It holds a few animals from a herd of around forty — the rest stay out of sight of visitors. Nature boards and benches are placed along the route, and the Ecological Education Centre runs classes for groups.
A visit takes about an hour. The route is level and passable with a pushchair, but because of the animals dogs are not allowed.
