The flower clock stands in the spa park in Szczawnica, by Zdrojowa street, in the very heart of the resort. Its dial is made of living plants, the frame of stone, and the mechanism is protected against the weather, so the clock works regardless of the season.
On the hour between noon and ten in the evening the clock marks the time with a melody. The repertoire includes well-known popular tunes, and in winter carols, which gives the promenade a festive mood. In the evening the structure is illuminated, so it is easy to find after dark.
There are few flower clocks of this kind in the world; similar ones work in Edinburgh, Geneva and Niagara Falls. The one in Szczawnica was funded by local entrepreneurs and quickly became a symbol of the town. Seeing it takes a quarter of an hour, so it is best combined with a stroll along the promenade.
