Wieś Hutki-Kanki
The Góra Chełm nature reserve lies next to the village of Hutki-Kanki, on the border of the Silesian and Lesser Poland voivodeships, within the Eagles' Nests Landscape Park. It protects a wooded hill rising to 440 m above sea level, with limestone tors and rock outcrops in which numerous fossils have been preserved.
The greatest value of the reserve are the beech woods on its slopes: Sudeten, orchid and lowland beech forest, with trees around two hundred years old. Higher up grows a pine forest more than a century old, while the open slopes hold xerothermic grasslands and thermophilous scrub. Roe deer, foxes and tawny owls can be encountered here.
A nature trail with stops and information boards runs through the reserve, turning a walk into a short lesson in geology and botany. The green Millennium Trail crosses the area, and in Hutki-Kanki the red and green hiking trails meet, leading towards Zawiercie.
