ul. Parkowa, Krzeszowice
The Municipal Park in Krzeszowice covers more than twelve hectares in the centre of the town in Kraków County, on the western edge of the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura. The grounds were laid out in the mid-19th century on the initiative of Adam Potocki as a romantic landscape park composed together with the nearby residence. Today it is listed in the heritage register of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.
More than fifteen hundred species and varieties of native and exotic trees grow here, and some specimens are protected as natural monuments. A network of freely winding paths reveals successive glades and clumps of trees — in keeping with the English park principle, the views open up gradually. One of the vistas was laid out so that the ruins of Tenczyn Castle could be seen from the palace windows.
The area is protected under the Natura 2000 network because of its bats — it holds one of Poland's largest breeding colonies of Geoffroy's bat. The park is flat and easy for families with children, and the Jura trails and Tenczyn Castle in Rudno are close by.
