A park on the slopes of Góra Piaskowa

The Municipal Park in Ziębice spreads across the slopes of Góra Piaskowa (Sand Hill) on the edge of the town in Ząbkowice County, Lower Silesia. The difference in height between the entrance and the upper terrace reaches almost fifty metres, which gives the walk a scenic character and lets successive parts of the grounds reveal themselves gradually.

What to see

The lower part of the park is landscaped, with a pond and regular avenues, while the upper part turns into an almost forest-like stand of trees. Notable features include the water tower and the water castle linked to the former high-pressure reservoir, and the Piast Eagle monument on the hill, where a panorama of Ziębice and the surrounding hills opens up.

Nature

The tree stand consists of beeches, limes, pines, spruces and sycamores, complemented by many ornamental species. Alders, poplars, willows, bird cherry and ash grow in the damper sections. The climb uphill is steep in places — with a pushchair the flat lower part is more comfortable.
