The Radziwiłł palace and park complex occupies an extensive site almost in the centre of Biała Podlaska, with entrances from Warszawska and Zamkowa streets. It was built in the 17th century as the fortified residence of the magnate family and was then one of the grandest estates in this part of the Commonwealth. The palace itself has not survived, but the layout of the grounds and the main buildings remain clearly readable.
Fragments of earthen ramparts, bastions and the moat surrounding the courtyard have survived from the old fortifications. The brick entrance gate with its tower, the chapel and the outbuildings housing the Museum of Southern Podlasie also remain. The whole is framed by a park with paths and mature trees, freely accessible all year round.
It makes a good target for a few hours' stop in Biała Podlaska: walking the grounds takes about an hour, visiting the museum considerably longer. The terrain is flat and easy for families with children, and the market square and the town's other monuments are close by.
