The Botanical Garden of Adam Mickiewicz University lies in the Poznań district of Jeżyce, on Dąbrowskiego Street. It combines the role of a research institution with that of a park open to visitors: the collections are arranged by department and the paths lead in turn through different plant environments.
A visit covers the dendrology and plant geography departments, plant systematics, collections of ornamental species and of rare and endangered plants, as well as water and marsh plants. A rock garden and glasshouses complete the picture. The garden takes part in the international index seminum seed exchange, which is reflected in the range of species on display.
A place for anyone interested in botany and gardening, but also a good destination for a quiet walk with children. Seeing the whole garden calls for several hours. The institution runs educational programmes, so many of the collections are labelled.
