The green heart of Kazimierza Wielka

The Municipal Park lies in the centre of Kazimierza Wielka, a few steps from the market square, in the valley of the Małoszówka river. It is the town's main recreational area: a network of walking avenues, plenty of benches and old trees older than the surrounding buildings. Differences in ground level give the upper part a landscape character and the lower one a riverside feel.

What to see

The park's landmark is a monumental pedunculate oak of about two hundred years. The European larch also draws attention – the only native conifer that sheds its needles for the winter. A fountain plays in the central section, and next to it stands an amphitheatre used for open-air events in summer. The upper part of the grounds once belonged to the Łubieński family; a larch manor house stood here until it burned down in 1986.

Who it suits

The park makes a convenient stop on a trip across the Ponidzie region. Admission is free, the paths are surfaced and accessible for pushchairs, and dogs are allowed on a lead. Families use the playground and outdoor fitness equipment, runners the loop around the grounds, and an hour is enough for a quiet walk.
