The Schön palaces in Sosnowiec

The Schön Palace and Park Complex in Sosnowiec consists of two residences on Chemiczna Street together with the surrounding landscape park. The architecture draws on neo-Romantic forms and on English models of industrialists' residences. The estate is linked with the Schön family, manufacturers who settled in Sosnowiec in 1875.

What to see

Apart from the palaces, the gardener's house and a farm building survive, and the park holds a historic grotto and an oriental pavilion. One of the palaces now serves as the city's wedding hall. The tree stand is unusually varied, with silver maple, Norway maple, red oak, white mulberry and tulip tree among the species.

Who it suits

The hilly terrain has made the park a favourite with cyclists, hence its local nickname „the Bike Park”. There are also two tennis courts on site. A good destination for anyone looking in the Zagłębie region for greenery combined with historic architecture.
