A botanical garden in the heart of Bytom

Ogród Bytomski i Miniarboretum covers about two hectares in the very centre of the city, on Tarnogórska Street. It is a small but carefully maintained garden with an educational character, run by the municipal green space authority. Its compact layout means a relaxed walk around the whole site takes roughly an hour.

Plant collections

Close to 400 plant species have been gathered here, more than half of them from outside Poland and from various climate zones. An educational trail describes the individual collections. The centrepiece is the orangery with exotic vegetation, which also houses birds and reptiles, including zebra finches, yellow-fronted canaries and yellow-bellied sliders.

Who it suits

The garden works well as a short stop with children — there is a teaching room and nature lessons prepared for school groups, and the paths are comfortable for prams. Admission is ticketed, so it is worth checking the current opening hours before your visit.
