The Gardens and Butterfly House in Marcinkowo form a private garden complex in a small village in the Mrągowo district, a few kilometres from Mrągowo. The site combines extensive, carefully designed ornamental gardens with a heated hall where exotic butterfly species are bred. On the map of Warmia and Masuria it is an unusual proposition.
A visit usually begins in the garden section, divided into themed beds with perennials, ornamental shrubs, small ponds and places to rest. The heart of the site is the butterfly house — a glazed space with high temperature and humidity, where butterflies fly freely around visitors and settle on flowers and fruit feeders.
It is an idea for families with children and for gardening enthusiasts; close contact with butterflies impresses the youngest visitors. The hall works regardless of the weather, so the place serves well as a fallback plan on a rainy day of a Masurian holiday. A visit takes roughly an hour.
