The flower clock stands at the foot of the hill with the ruins of the royal castle in Nowy Sącz, on Kazimierza Wielkiego Street. Its face, five metres across, is planted with seasonal flowers and decorates the approach to the centre. It is one of the most photographed details in the city.
The composition comes alive from early spring to autumn, and its colour scheme is changed from year to year, sometimes to mark civic anniversaries and larger events. Outside the growing season the face remains unplanted, so a visit is best planned for the warm months. A wide promenade runs alongside, with views of the nearby historic buildings.
The clock is part of a broader tradition of floral arrangements in Nowy Sącz — flower cups stand in the town gardens and decorative mushroom-shaped parasols on the market square. Seeing it takes a quarter of an hour and combines well with a walk around the castle hill and the old town.
