Fryderyk Chopin Park stretches over about six hectares in the Śródmieście district, a few minutes' walk from the railway station and the Gliwice market square. It is the most popular place to relax in the city centre, with walking paths, lawns and an impressive old-growth tree stand.
The park's greatest attraction is the Municipal Palm House. Its pavilions hold over six thousand plants representing different climate zones, as well as aquariums with freshwater fish. The visit takes place under a roof, so the palm house is a good item on the itinerary on a rainy day. Entry to the park itself is free; the palm house requires a ticket.
Monuments and sculptures are scattered among the trees and are worth seeking out while walking around the park. The green GOP Edge Trail runs through the grounds, linking the railway station, Chopin Park, the market square and Bolesław Chrobry Park — a convenient way to see the centre on foot.
