A space station module in the Beskids

Młodzieżowa Stacja Kosmiczna YSS in Sopotnia Wielka was created in 2007 on the initiative of the POLARIS Association. It is a full-scale replica of the Destiny Laboratory module of the International Space Station ISS, hidden away in a mountain valley of the Beskid Żywiecki range.

Mission simulations

Visits follow the script of a space mission. Participants put on suits modelled on NASA ACES spacesuits, take up operator positions and carry out tasks supported by presentations and multimedia visualisations. The format works well for school groups, but individual tourists are welcome too.

The surroundings

Sopotnia Wielka is known for the highest waterfall in the Beskids, a few kilometres from the station. The dark sky above the valley favours astronomical observation, a long-standing activity of POLARIS. A large trampoline stands in front of the building.

  • Parking for cars and coaches

Visit duration: approx. 1 hour Seasonality: Open all year
