A planetarium in the heart of Olsztyn

The Olsztyn planetarium stands on Piłsudski Avenue in the city centre and forms one institution together with the astronomical observatory housed in a former water tower. It is one of the larger facilities of its kind in Poland and a convenient stop while touring Warmia.

Screenings and sky shows

The main attraction is the domed projection hall where films about space are shown. All of them have an English soundtrack, some also German, French or Russian; headphones with the chosen language version are collected when buying a ticket. The observatory hosts night sky shows and presentations devoted to meteorites, complemented by a permanent display.

Who it is for

The institution runs an extensive educational programme for children and young people, including the Olsztyn Children's Academy, the Young Astronomer's Club, teaching screenings and art competitions. A single show takes about an hour, so the visit is easy to combine with a walk around the old town. It is worth checking the schedule before arriving.
