The Copernicus Science Centre stands in Warsaw's Powiśle district, on the Vistula riverbank along Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie. Several hundred hands-on stations are spread over a number of levels, complemented by the Heavens of Copernicus planetarium and the publicly accessible roof garden.
The permanent exhibitions are arranged by theme — from the world of physics and technology, through the human body and the senses, to a zone set aside for the youngest visitors. The exhibits are operated by hand, so a visit means experimenting rather than looking at display cases. The planetarium offers screenings, live shows and concerts under the dome.
The building is wheelchair accessible and geared towards family visits. During a break you can rest in the Roof Garden with a view of the Vistula and the city skyline. Weekends and school holidays get crowded, so tickets are worth buying in advance. The centre also runs workshops and educational programmes.
