Bydgoszcz Zoo is located on Gdańska Street, within the Myślęcinek Forest Park of Culture and Recreation — the largest municipal park in Poland. A visit therefore combines with a walk through extensive wooded grounds, while the zoo itself usually takes about an hour to see.
The collection is divided into sections: aquarium, terrarium, birds, hoofed mammals, carnivores, and small carnivorous and herbivorous mammals. The garden focuses on native and European species, though exotic animals are present as well. Besides visiting on your own, you can watch demonstration feedings — of bison, lemurs, fallow deer, foxes and otters — and join regular family meetings.
It is above all a proposal for families with children and school groups; the zoo runs classes tailored to the age of participants, from kindergarten to secondary school. The institution also takes part in pro-ecological campaigns and photographic exhibitions about wildlife.
