The Upside Down House stands on Aleje 3 Maja, a few minutes on foot from Krupówki street and the Zakopane station. The building was set with its roof on the ground, so from the outside it looks like a house toppled by a gale. The interior is fully furnished, but all the fittings are fixed to the ceiling, along which visitors walk.

What a visit looks like

The walk through the inverted rooms is short but strongly confuses the senses. The only element keeping its normal position is the staircase leading from the upper floor down to the ground floor. Everything else, from the table and chairs to the kitchen equipment, hangs above visitors heads. The inner ear rebels against such a perspective, so keeping balance can be a challenge.

Who it suits

This is an option for families with children and for anyone looking for entertainment independent of the weather. It works well as a short stop on a rainy day, when the Tatra trails are out of the question. The site lies in the very centre, so a visit combines easily with a stroll along the promenade and other attractions on Aleje 3 Maja.
