The Świętokrzyskie countryside in one place

The ethnographic park in Tokarnia near Kielce gathers the wooden architecture of villages and small towns from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings come from the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, the Sandomierz Upland and the Nida Basin, and they are spread over a wide, rolling site that is walked like a real village.

Sectors and displays

The exhibition is divided into thematic parts: small-town, upland, Świętokrzyskie, loess, manor-and-farmstead and Vistula-side. Each shows a different type of building, different materials and a different way of farming. The interiors of cottages, workshops and manor buildings are filled with everyday equipment illustrating the material culture of the region's inhabitants.

How to visit

The museum can be walked alone, in a group or with a guide, including thematic routes. For younger visitors there are outdoor games that turn the walk into a task to complete. Given the size of the grounds, allow at least an hour and wear comfortable shoes.

  • Ticket desk and information point
