Wolska 36, Kolbuszowa
The open-air museum in Kolbuszowa gathers the architecture and material culture of two ethnographic groups of the Subcarpathian region — the Lasowiacy of the Sandomierz Forest and the Rzeszowiacy. The exhibition covers around 30 hectares on the edge of town and shows the countryside of the late 19th and early 20th century in its natural spatial layout.
Cottages, whole farmsteads, farm buildings and public buildings were moved here, and around them kitchen gardens, apiaries, orchards, fields and pastures were recreated. Farm animals belong to the picture as well. The interiors are furnished as they once were, which reveals the differences in wealth between households and the way daily work was organised.
The large green site invites an unhurried walk, so it works well for a longer family stop. Craft demonstrations, fieldwork and bread-baking shows and folk events tied to the ritual calendar are held regularly.
