Podzamcze 1, Wieś Wygiełzów
The Vistula Ethnographic Park in Wygiełzów lies west of Cracow, at the foot of the hill crowned by the ruins of Lipowiec Castle. Spread over more than five hectares are several dozen examples of old wooden architecture from villages and small towns along the Vistula and from the borderland of Lesser Poland and Silesia. A visit is usually combined with a climb to the neighbouring castle.
The core of the display is the small-town complex: an arcaded house from Alwernia, a house with a potter's workshop from Chrzanów, a manor granary from Kościelec and an inn from Minoga. Around them stand cottages, farm buildings and religious structures, with interiors furnished as they once were. Some buildings house temporary exhibitions and a souvenir shop.
The museum runs craft workshops and classes tied to the traditional ritual year, and stages open-air folk events. The grounds are extensive and mostly unpaved, so allow at least an hour for the visit.
