The „Stara Chałupa” Museum in Milówka occupies a wooden house dating from 1739, one of the oldest surviving vernacular buildings in the Żywiec region. It is listed in the register of monuments and included in the Wooden Architecture Route of the Silesian Voivodeship. The house stands in the centre of the village, in the Soła valley between the Silesian and Żywiec Beskids.
The building most likely began as an inn, later passed into private hands and served as a dwelling with a farm section. Local legend links the place with a stopover by King John III Sobieski on his way to relieve Vienna. The interiors are arranged to show the everyday life of a village family: the room with its stove, household equipment, costumes and working tools.
The carpentry details are striking: beams joined with saddle and dovetail notches, a shingle roof, a stone footing and an earthen floor. The museum runs workshops in glass painting, ceramics and tissue-paper craft, and since the visit itself is short, it combines easily with a trip into the surrounding mountains.
