Kozłówka 3, Wieś Kozłówka
The Zamoyski Museum occupies the palace and park complex in Kozłówka in the Lublin region, a dozen or so kilometres from Lubartów. The Baroque residence was built between 1736 and 1742 for Michał Bieliński, voivode of Chełmno, and later passed to the Zamoyski family, who held it until 1944. Today it is one of the best preserved aristocratic residences in Poland.
Its greatest value lies in the authentic interiors from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: original decoration, furniture, paintings and fittings preserved as a whole, which is rare on a European scale. The complex also includes a chapel modelled on the one at Versailles and a garden in the French style. The former coach house holds a gallery of Socialist Realism art, the only exhibition of its kind in the country.
Kozłówka is worth a visit of several hours: after the interiors there is the park and garden to walk. The museum runs museum lessons and workshops, and for families it has prepared outdoor games, including a trail of monumental trees and a film-themed game.
