Kolejkowo in Wrocław is a large model railway layout opened to visitors in a building on Powstańców Śląskich Street, close to the centre. Trains run across the display, and around the tracks the makers built miniature towns, stations and landscapes packed with detail.
The builders recreated the market square tenements of Wrocław, the Świebodzki railway station and other recognisable buildings. The layout lives to its own rhythm: the times of day change, dusk falls, rain comes, and street scenes play out, from a car collision to a bank robbery. Look out for hidden jokes and humorous references.
It is made for families with children and for anyone fond of modelling, yet it is just as enjoyable without a railway passion. A visit takes about an hour, takes place indoors, and the space is accessible for pushchairs.
