The Ethnographic Museum in Tarnów occupies a historic wooden suburban manor on Krakowska Street together with the adjoining granary. The arcaded manor itself is a valuable example of wooden architecture. The holdings cover the traditional folk culture of the Tarnów region, from everyday utensils to craft products.
The displays show village life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries: the farm, the workshop, rituals and vanishing trades. A separate place belongs to the exhibition on Roma culture — the first permanent display of its kind in the world, still being enlarged with new objects.
A visit takes roughly an hour and happens indoors, so the weather does not matter. The museum runs workshops and classes for school and organised groups. The site lies close to the old town of Tarnów, which makes it easy to combine the visit with a walk through the city.
