Steam locomotives in scheduled service

The Wolsztyn engine shed is exceptional on a world scale — steam locomotives still haul scheduled passenger trains from here. The depot was built at a junction from which tracks fan out in five directions, and it has kept its old layout and the atmosphere of a working railway facility.

What to see

Around thirty locomotives built between 1917 and 1957 are gathered here, several of them still operational. Alongside the machines you can see the water tower, the turntable, the workshops and the auxiliary equipment normally hidden from passengers.

Who it suits

This is an attraction for technology enthusiasts and families with children — the hall impresses with its scale, its sound and the smell of grease. Visitors can plan a ride behind steam traction according to the timetable published by the museum. Wolsztyn lies by a lake, so sightseeing combines easily with a rest by the water.
