An Upper Silesian village in Park Śląski

The Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park lies in Chorzów, within Park Śląski and right next to the Silesian Stadium. Around one hundred wooden buildings have been gathered on 22 hectares, brought here from the Silesian Beskids, Upper Silesia and the Pszczyna-Rybnik, Bytom-Tarnowskie Góry and Dąbrowa Basin areas.

What to see

The route leads among cottages, granaries, a smithy and small-town buildings, furnished as they looked in the times of their owners. The interiors are complemented by permanent displays on farming and rural work, while the wooden church and the windmill are the most photographed structures.

Good to know

The open-air museum lives by its calendar of outdoor events — Easter in Silesia, Silesian carnival festivities or the Day of Crafts and Handicraft turn the exhibition into a living history lesson. Museum classes and craft workshops are also held. The flat, spacious grounds and wide lanes suit visits with children and prams.

  • Large car park by Park Śląski
  • Ticket office and information point
  • Toilets on the museum grounds
  • Walking lanes accessible for prams
Visit duration: approx. 1 hour Seasonality: Open-air exhibition — best visited from spring to autumn
