Rynek 20-21, Tarnów
The Museum of the History of Tarnów and the Region occupies two historic tenement houses on the market square and is a branch of the District Museum in Tarnów. The exhibition tells the story of the city from the Middle Ages to modern times, using arranged interiors instead of classic display cases.
Inside there is, among other things, a guild inn and the interior of a tram, which lead into successive eras: the interwar period, the Second World War and the years of communist Poland. Separate rooms are devoted to documents with royal privileges, knightly weaponry and figures and buildings connected with Tarnów.
Before entering, it is worth looking at the Renaissance paintings and decoration on the facade, restored during conservation work. A play area has been prepared for the youngest visitors, and the building is accessible for pushchairs, which makes visiting with small children easier.
