Gen. Hallera 19 (Wieża Widokowa III piętro), Władysławowo
The Butterfly Museum in Władysławowo grew out of a private insect collection built up by two generations of one family. The display occupies a building on Gen. Hallera street, on the upper floors of a viewing tower in the town centre, a few minutes from the harbour and the beach. It is one of the few seaside attractions entirely independent of the weather.
The collection holds more than three thousand specimens arranged in some seventy entomological cases. Alongside butterflies from around the world there are beetles, stick and ghost insects, true bugs, bird-eating spiders as well as scorpions and centipedes. Accompanying collections include old insect traps, toys, coins, stamps, jewellery and ceramics. Short films about the life of butterflies are screened, and visitors can test their knowledge in an interactive quiz.
A visit takes about an hour and works well for families with children, especially on a rainy day. The top floor of the building has a viewing terrace with a panorama of Władysławowo and the Bay of Puck, and a souvenir shop is located below.
