Toys beside the Old Town

The Museum of Dollhouses, Games and Toys stands on Podwale Street, right beneath the walls of Warsaw's Old Town. It is a collection devoted to the history of play, gathering more than ten thousand toys, playthings, games and puzzles from the last two centuries.

The dollhouses

The core of the display is a set of over one hundred and fifty dollhouses: fully furnished residences, but also miniature schools, hospitals and workshops. The oldest pieces are more than two hundred years old. The collection is completed by devotional toys — miniature chapels and dolls in habits, ceremonial dress and wedding costumes of various cultures and religions.

Who it suits

This is a place for families across generations: children look at objects they have never held, adults recognise the toys of their own childhood. The museum also runs a temporary exhibition branch on Krzywe Koło Street, a few minutes' walk away, right by the Old Town Market Square.
