S. Żeromskiego 8, Nałęczów
The museum occupies a wooden cottage from 1905, built in Nałęczów as the summer studio of Stefan Żeromski. With its pillared porch and shingled roof it echoes the Zakopane style, and the writer financed its construction from the fee he received for the novel Popioły (Ashes).
Inside, the character of the study has been preserved, the room where among others Dzieje grzechu, Duma o hetmanie and Słowo o bandosie were written. The collection includes records of the writer's travels, portraits and sketches by artists of the period, among them Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz and Henryk Siemiradzki, as well as family mementoes, photographs and everyday objects.
Behind the cottage stands the mausoleum of Adam Żeromski, the writer's son, who died at the age of eighteen. The museum lies within the Nałęczów spa complex, so a visit combines easily with a walk through the spa park and the town's other historic buildings.
