Szkolna 1, Wieś Rudy
The Historic Narrow-Gauge Railway Station in Rudy occupies the former base of the Upper Silesian narrow-gauge railways, between Racibórz and Gliwice, amid the forests of the Cistercian Landscape Compositions of Rudy Wielkie Landscape Park. The track layout, station buildings and a locomotive shed over a century old have survived here.
Tourist trains run on two routes: towards Rybnik Stodoły and to Stanica. They are hauled by the Las-49 steam locomotive and the Lxd2 diesel, and occasionally by an electric locomotive built by the Siemens works in 1896, considered the oldest preserved in the world.
The site attracts families and railway enthusiasts — besides the ride you can pump a handcar, tour the locomotive shed and the forge with a guide, and see the railway museum and the Silesian heritage room. A walk to the former Cistercian monastery complex in Rudy rounds off the visit.
