Towarowa 7, Kościerzyna
The Steam Locomotive Depot Open-Air Museum in Kościerzyna is a branch of the Museum of the Kościerzyna Region, housed in a historic engine shed with a through hall. It is regarded as the largest facility of its kind in northern Poland, and the display covers both the interiors and the tracks around the building.
More than a dozen steam locomotives of the Ok1, Ol49, Pt47 and Ty2 classes stand on the tracks, alongside diesel and electric locomotives, railcars, a rescue train and a narrow-gauge set. The halls show railway tools, documents and photographs, and the working models of Kościerzyna station draw particular attention.
The scale of the collection impresses children and adults alike, and much of the visit takes place in the open air, so dress for the weather. The museum lies beside the working railway station, close to the town centre and the routes across Kashubia.
