A collection in the heart of the spa town

The Toy Museum sits on the main axis of Krynica-Zdrój, a few steps from the promenade and the mineral water pump room. Some 300 square metres hold more than three and a half thousand exhibits, arranged in eleven thematic displays. The exhibition traces the history of toys from antiquity to the 1980s, with objects from the 19th and 20th centuries forming the core of the collection.

What to see

The eye is drawn to home puppet theatres, dolls in period costume and mechanical tin toys. Separate sections cover optical toys and music boxes, a building-block collection including LEGO, and figures linked to films. One of the most striking arrangements is a faithful reconstruction of a school classroom from the communist era, recreated down to the smallest detail. The collection keeps growing, so each return visit brings new objects.

Who it suits

The museum appeals above all to families with children, for whom most of the objects belong to an entirely unknown world, and to adults looking for a sentimental return to childhood. The whole visit takes place indoors, so it works well in bad weather.
