Dąbrowa 133, Wieś Dąbrowa (gmina Przesmyki)
The Museum of the Landed Gentry operates in the village of Dąbrowa in the Przesmyki municipality, in eastern Mazovia, as a branch of the Regional Museum in Siedlce. It shows the everyday life of moderately wealthy landowners at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a class that shaped the economic and cultural life of the Polish countryside. The rooms are furnished in the fashion of the period, so the visit feels more like calling on an inhabited manor than reviewing display cases.
Successive rooms present antique furniture, works of art and everyday objects. Among the exhibits, a valve radio and a grand piano stand out, along with stylish furnishings typical of manor drawing rooms. A substantial part of the collection comes from private donations and from the holdings of the Regional Museum in Siedlce, the Museum of Warsaw and the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
The museum goes beyond its permanent display: it hosts temporary exhibitions, photographic openings and artistic events promoting the history of the region. The tour itself is short, so it pairs well with a drive around Siedlce and southern Podlasie.
