Komorowicka 3, Bielsko-Biała
The Skarby Ziemi Mineral Museum stands on Komorowicka Street in the centre of Bielsko-Biała. It presents around 800 specimens representing more than 550 kinds of minerals brought from many corners of the world. It is one of the largest private geological collections open to visitors in Poland.
The display is split between two rooms. The main hall holds the largest specimens, described in terms of origin and chemical composition. In the microscope room rare minerals can be examined at high magnification under stereoscopic and polarising microscopes. A multimedia presentation on collecting and processing rocks completes the tour.
The intimate setting and the microscope demonstration make the museum a good stop for visitors travelling with children. A visit takes little time and does not depend on the weather, so it fits easily into a stay in the Beskids or a break on the way south.
