św. Wojciecha 13, Wieś Góra Świętej Anny
The Museum of the Silesian Uprisings stands in the village of Góra Świętej Anny in the Opole region and is a branch of the Museum of Opole Silesia. Its location is no accident: in 1921 the hill and the surrounding villages became the arena of the fiercest fighting of the Third Silesian Uprising. The museum holds around two and a half thousand exhibits related to the Silesian uprisings and to the plebiscite in Upper Silesia.
The permanent exhibition occupies the ground floor and is divided into thematic displays leading through the successive stages of the dispute over Silesia. A separate highlight is a light-and-sound show of about fifteen minutes, the Panorama of the Silesian Uprisings, staged in the rotunda. On the way, visitors pass a historical and natural trail arranged as a diorama, presenting the nature and architecture of the surrounding area.
It is worth combining the visit with the whole complex of St Anne's Mountain: the sanctuary, the calvary and the amphitheatre carved into a former basalt quarry. The museum also runs museum lessons, lectures and field classes devoted to the history of the region.
