Zubrzyca Górna, Wieś Zubrzyca Górna
This open-air museum in Zubrzyca Górna, at the foot of Babia Góra, presents the architecture and culture of Upper Orava. Around 60 wooden structures stand on some 12 hectares, and their scattered layout among meadows recalls the character of an old Orava village.
Visitors will find complete farmsteads, cottages, an inn, a manor house, a rectory, an oil mill, a dye house, a smithy, a water-powered sawmill and shepherds' huts. Dozens of themed exhibitions inside show room furnishings, craft workshops and the everyday work of the region's inhabitants.
In spring and summer, weekend demonstrations of traditional crafts are held, and groups can book educational sessions devoted to Orava culture. The exhibition covers a large area with unpaved paths, so comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are useful.
