The former Sochaczew County Railway

The Narrow-Gauge Railway Museum in Sochaczew occupies the historic depot buildings of the former Sochaczew County Railway and is a branch of the Museum Station in Warsaw. Rolling stock from several eras stands on the tracks and in the yard, led by the Px29-1704 steam locomotive of the “Wilno” type.

A ride on the retro train

The main attraction is the seasonal ride on a retro train hauled by the pre-war steam locomotive or the Lxd2-342 diesel. The eighteen-kilometre route runs along the edge of the Kampinos Forest, passing Brochów with the church where Fryderyk Chopin was baptised, and Wilcze Tułowskie, known as the gateway to the national park.

Who it suits

The museum offers a wide range of lessons and workshops for school groups devoted to the history of the railway and the region. Touring the exhibition and walking around the site take about an hour, while the train ride lasts much longer and requires checking the timetable in advance.
