Folk culture in a modern setting

The Ethnographic Centre of the Krosno Region is a modern venue in Krosno devoted to the culture of the area's former inhabitants. Instead of classic display cases it relies on multimedia: interactive walks, games and projections telling the story of rituals, customs and everyday village life. Thanks to this format visitors do not merely look on, but actively discover a world that no longer exists.

What to see

The exhibition leads through the traditions of the region with the help of fairy tales, legends and storytelling, presenting costumes, music and the annual cycle of customs of the Krosno area. The building also serves as a performance hall and a set of workshops, so the programme changes with the calendar of events. Craft, culinary, dance, music and singing workshops are held here.

Who it suits

The place works well for visits with children, as the interactive format holds attention better than a traditional exhibition. It is worth checking the calendar before arriving: dances, meetings with masters of folk tradition and folk theatre performances are organised regularly.
