Boatbuilding and fishing on the lagoon

The Vistula Lagoon Museum stands in Kąty Rybackie on the Vistula Spit and is a branch of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. It gathers relics left by the fishermen and boatbuilders of the lagoon shore, showing how these villages lived and worked for generations.

What to see

The exhibition hall holds original boats used on the Vistula Lagoon and in inland navigation, surrounded by fishing gear, nets and workshop tools. The display explains the techniques of building wooden vessels and the seasonal rhythm of a fisherman's year.

The surroundings

Kąty Rybackie lies between the waters of the lagoon and the Baltic beaches, next to a reserve with a colony of cormorants and herons. A visit to the museum combines well with a walk around the fishing harbour and a trip along the spit towards Krynica Morska.
