Puławska 1, Wieś Gołąb
The Museum of Unusual Bicycles operates in the village of Gołąb near Puławy, in the Lublin region. It is a private institution run by Józef Konstanty Majewski, a collector and builder who made a large share of the machines on show himself. The holdings focus on bicycles that depart from the standard design, from recumbents to circus models.
The display covers recumbent, multi-wheeled and folding bicycles, rare utility variants and the owner's own constructions. The oldest exhibits reach back before the Second World War, among them a German bicycle driven by a shaft instead of a chain. The visit takes the form of a story: the host explains how the individual mechanisms work and how the bicycle developed.
The place works well when travelling with children, since the machines can be examined close up and families can take a rickshaw ride. Gołąb lies near the Vistula and Puławy, so a visit combines easily with the palace and park complex there or a trip towards Kazimierz Dolny.
