Soplicowo Filmowe – Film Open-Air Museum

A film set in Cichowo

Soplicowo Filmowe in Cichowo near Śrem is an open-air museum built around set pieces from Pan Tadeusz directed by Andrzej Wajda. The decorations were brought here from Warsaw, where part of the film was shot, and arranged as a coherent manor and farmstead. The result is a taste of the Lithuanian village described by Adam Mickiewicz.

What to see

The route leads through the farm buildings: a stable, a coach house, a granary, a barn and a henhouse, beside which an old orchard and the garden of Zosia have been recreated. Interiors and yards were arranged to match the film vision of a nineteenth-century noble manor. A pen with farm animals is an added attraction, especially for the youngest visitors.

Good to know

The location was not chosen at random — Adam Mickiewicz stayed in Cichowo and drew inspiration from the surrounding landscape. A manor house, a guesthouse and an inn operate on the grounds, and the hosts receive school trips, conferences and outdoor events, including occasions referring to the work of the poet.
