An open-air museum below Babia Góra

Skansen w Sidzinie is a Museum of Folk Culture in the village of Sidzina in Sucha County, at the foot of the Beskid Żywiecki range. It gathers more than a dozen examples of wooden rural architecture showing everyday life in the surrounding villages from the 18th to the 20th century. The buildings stand on a slope amid greenery, so a visit doubles as a walk.

What to see

Permanent displays are arranged inside individual buildings: the Banasik cottage, Anna Kozioł's cottage, the cottage of village head Maj, a smithy, a mill, a granary and a Loreto bell tower. They are complemented by a 3D display, an exhibition devoted to Father Jan Trzopiński, an open-air gallery of folk sculpture and a story of the village's beginnings. Interiors keep their furnishings.

Who it suits

The site works well for families — workshops cover bread and griddle-cake baking, glass painting and blending herbal mixes. A quest, an outdoor game leading through the museum grounds and the surrounding area, introduces the history of the village and regional culture.
