Towarowa 4, Jaworzyna Śląska
The Silesian Railway Museum occupies a former locomotive depot in Jaworzyna Śląska, a historic railway junction of Lower Silesia. It collects and saves from oblivion rolling stock built between 1890 and 1972, displayed on the sidings and on the fan of tracks around the turntable.
The collection holds about 50 steam, diesel and electric locomotives, close to 100 carriages and wagons, and specialised rail vehicles. The exhibition halls house themed displays on railway history, signalling, the work of train crews and railway technology.
The spacious industrial site works well for a visit with children, as the vehicles can be seen up close. Rides along the Steam Depot Route pass water cranes, the sand plant and the coal crane. A bistro arranged inside a 1970s buffet carriage operates on site.
